CPAP Cleaning Supplies – Keeping Your CPAP and You Healthy

Congratulations you’ve got your CPAP machine, but now it’s time to look after it!

I’ve had my ResMed Airsense 10 for about 7 years now, and it’s still going strong. According to reports, the average lifespan of a CPAP machine is approximately 5 years.

Looking after the machine is important, but it’s more important that you look after yourself by keeping your machine clean and hygienic. A dirty machine can grow bacteria and mold, and even make your therapy uncomfortable. The good news? With the right CPAP cleaning supplies, keeping everything fresh is quick and simple.

๐Ÿ’ก Jeremyโ€™s Tip: Once I made CPAP cleaning part of my daily routine, I noticed fewer sinus issues and a fresher airflow at night. And it didn’t smell !!

In this guide, Iโ€™ll walk you through the must-have CPAP cleaning supplies, how to use them, and some of the best options available.

Why Cleaning Your CPAP Matters

Your CPAP machine works hard every night to keep your airway open. But that also means it collects:

  • Oils from your skin
  • Dust and allergens
  • Moisture in hoses and humidifiers (a perfect breeding ground for mold)

Without regular cleaning, you risk:

  • Infections and sinus irritation
  • Nasty smells and residue buildup
  • Your equipment wearing out faster

Thatโ€™s where proper cleaning supplies come in.

1. CPAP Brushes

Hoses are long and narrow โ€” making them tricky to clean without a proper brush. They have electrical contacts on them, so I don’t recommend flushing them with water.

A CPAP tube brush helps you scrub out hidden residue and keep airways clear.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Jeremyโ€™s Tip: Long brushes save me time. One pass through the tubing and I know itโ€™s clean.

I’ve got 2 CPAP brushes I recommend. I personally use the Aveen CPAP tube brush, but alternatively, if you would like to keep your CPAP cleaning in one place, I recommend the RawRock kit. With the kit, you get the whole lot for almost the same price. However, the quality of the Aveen brush is better and in my opinion, looks better.

The Aveen CPAP Tube and Mask Cleaning Brush, Suitable for All CPAP Hoses and Masks

I find this CPAP cleaning brush really effective for getting into both the hoses and my mask. The bristles are firm enough to push all the way through the tubing without bending or wearing out, and they feel solidly made.

What I really like is that it comes with two different sizes โ€” the smaller one is perfect for cleaning headgear and those awkward little parts that are hard to reach. Itโ€™s quick and easy to use on my CPAP lines, and honestly, it saves me from having to think about expensive cleaning machines.

For me, it feels like a solid investment in keeping my CPAP gear properly clean without spending a fortune.

You can use the CPAP Cleaning soap I recommend below, together with your brush, to ensure your CPAP hose is clean and germ-free. ๐Ÿ™‚

RawRock Hose and Mask for CPAP Cleaning Brush with Collapsible Wash Basin Bucket Tub

This is a great alternative if you want a dedicated CPAP cleaning tub. The tub holds 2.5 gallons and is totally collapsible for easy storing.

This is another Amazon best seller, and reviews say the following:-

Customers find the CPAP cleaning kit works well, particularly for scrubbing tubing and masks, and appreciate its collapsible design that saves space. The kit receives positive feedback for its quality and cleaning power, with one customer noting it’s perfect for deep cleaning CPAP parts. While some customers find it easy to use and consider it good value for money, others report issues with the brush getting stuck in tubes. The size receives mixed reviews, with some finding it perfect while others say it’s smaller than anticipated, and durability is also mixed, with one customer noting the included brushes are durable.

2. CPAP Cleaning Soap

When I first got my CPAP machine, I would use regular detergent to clean the mask and hose. A better option is to use a specialist, low-cost cleaning soap.

You use a CPAP cleaner solution like you would a detergent.

Itโ€™s great for knocking out those stale smells that creep into CPAP hoses, masks, and even the water chamber.

I love it because it is fragrance-free, which means no fake scents or chemical after-smells โ€” just clean equipment. A single bottle seems to last quite a while, too, so itโ€™s decent value. Added bonus, there is no residue left behind.

And itโ€™s made in the USA, so you know where itโ€™s coming from. Overall, it sounds like a solid option if you want a simple, affordable cleaner without going down the expensive gadget route, which I don’t recommend anyway!

3. CPAP Wipes

For daily cleaning, CPAP wipes are the fastest option. Just swipe down your mask cushion or nasal pillows, and youโ€™re good to go.

Resplabs CPAP Mask Wipes 110 Wipes

I love these Resplabs, and so does everyone else, because they are an Amazon best seller.

Firstly, I love the packaging. I’ve bought the flat pack type of wipes before, and I always find them difficult to open. I usually end up ripping the top off completely, and they dry out after a couple of weeks.

With this type of packaging, they always stay fresh and don’t dry out.

  • Great packaging
  • Unscented
  • Alcohol-free

The unscentedness of these wipes is also great, as I find that when I lie down to go to sleep, I prefer a nice, clean, neutral scent around my face.

3. CPAP Hose Dryer

So you’ve cleaned your CPAP hose, but how do you ensure it is dry for the next night? You don’t want to leave it hanging around, as you risk mold growing in it and hard water from building up.

I love this clever little device. It’s basically a little fan you attach to your tube that dries it out. It’s lightweight, low-noise, and portable, so you can use it when you go travelling.

It’s just clever and does the job

What about CPAP Sanitizer machines?

A CPAP sanitizer machine is a great idea if you want to throw all your equipment in and push a button.

Saying that, you still need to clean off any drool or mucus that has accumulated overnight first.

The machine I recommend is the LiViliti Paptizer Smart CPAP Sanitizer

  • Uses UV-C light, heat, and circulated air for medical-grade sanitizing
  • Reduces unpleasant smells by breaking down the molecular structure of odors
  • Kills 99.9% of bacteria in as little as 3 minutes with the press of one button

Final Thoughts

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my guide to CPAP cleaning supplies. Keeping your equipment clean isnโ€™t just about fresh air โ€” itโ€™s about protecting your health and making sure your machine lasts as long as possible.

Whether you go for a simple brush and wipes, or invest in a full kit, the important thing is building cleaning into your routine. Your body (and your CPAP machine) will thank you for it.

Take care of yourself, keep that machine healthy, and sleep well.

๐Ÿ’ก Jeremyโ€™s Tip: Iโ€™ve learned that a few minutes of cleaning each day saves me hours of hassle later on.
